Victoria has overhauled building regulation but what about plumbing insurance?

Every day we see and read about defective plumbing works in Victorian properties.

We read about and see Building and Plumbing Commission posts about another suspended or fined Plumber.

We’ve all seen the videos of non-compliant roof plumbing which are so common!

But confusingly to me after a major reshuffle of VBA to the Building and Plumbing Commission and a whole switcheroo of last resort DBI insurance to so called ‘first resort’ the well-known issues with plumbing insurance, which were articulated in the recent report by Weir Legal and Consulting which lead to legislative change in Victoria, despite this, we still have seen no progress with plumbing insurance in Victoria!

The Licensed Plumbers General Insurance Order 2002 is out of date and insurers remain largely unregulated in claims handling.

This is an important protection that has been overlooked but it provides protection for consumers, builders and plumbers alike.

COME ON Building and Plumbing Commission we know you are busy…we know there has been huge change, maybe you forgot this issue…

But what about a Media Release to confirm that the change our plumbers, consumers and others need is on the horizon.
