My first day back after a lovely summer break…
And..
I must admit the Melbourne CBD seemed quite quiet.
To me that’s a great thing.
I love this time of year. It gives us an opportunity to get ahead with our plans and get the ball rolling for an efficient 2026.
A few things I’m thinking of for the year ahead are:
Onboarding a new lawyer and potentially a few more…we are very busy which is great but we keep building the team to ensure we always have capacity!
Narrowing our legal focus on our core areas of expertise, that is disputes in building (particularly insurance) and financial (mostly shareholder oppression and restraint of trade). Getting niche means we can help our clients even MORE efficiently and get better results.
By the way, for all our professional clients we are still advising on PI insurance and professional contracts. It’s a great time of year if you need these reviewed to get a fresh set of eyes before the year begins.
Finally, here’s to a clear run from Melbourne to Torquay. No traffic on the Westgate means happy days.
If you’re still by the beach, enjoy the rest of this holiday period, nothing of course is more important the time with family and friends.
And here’s to an amazing 2026!
This article is a general guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought about your specific circumstances.
A building professional who can write a report and a building professional who can defend one under cross-examination at VCAT are rarely the same person, and the gap between them is costing property owners claims.
If water from a neighbouring property has damaged your home or investment property in Victoria, section 16 of the Water Act 1989 gives you a direct path to recovery, but only if you can prove exactly where the flow came from and why it was unreasonable.
When a property damage claim moves toward recovery, the tradesperson who fixed the problem and the expert who can prove liability in court are rarely the same person.
