I walk past this location in Torquay taking my kids to their primary school.

Four weeks ago these 10 townhouses were barely commenced.

But look at the progress!

I appreciate it is at or just passed frame stage but it occurred to me the obvious economies of scale for builders and developers in managing multiple dwellings like this.

I am thinking efficient in arranging multiple contractors and materials compared to bespoke stand alone dwellings.

I had to stop and admire the progress. It appears the builder here is Glenvill Homes. What a great job it appears to be.

It also made me think are we getting enough access to these type of building opportunities in Australia?

It really seems to me as a building lawyer that we need more of this type of housing to stimulate the number of builds required.

What do others think?

Are we getting the mix right?

Is there demand for these type of dwellings?

If so, do our governments both state and local support this type of dwelling through planning laws and processes?
